Episode 17 – “Broken Dreams”

Written by Jill Donnellan
Japanese episode written by Yasuko Kobayashi
Additional material directed by Akihiro Noguchi and Koichi Sakamoto
Directed by Akihiro Noguchi

Summary: Master Xandred breaks Dayu’s Shamisen (‘Harmonium’) for her failure to destroy Deker. Dayu goes to Earth and sees a musician and plans to use him to repair her instrument. Pink Ranger intercepts Dayu. Master Xandred sends Nighlok Rhinosnorus after Dayu, but she refuses to return. Rhinosnorus puts Antonio, Mia and Dayu to sleep. Rhinosnorus enters the Dream World to eat the humans. Jayden opens a portal, and Kevin and Mike enter the Dream World.

In the Dream World, Mia sees human Deker and Dayu (‘Dalia’) on their wedding night. Deker and Dalia exchange gifts — Dalia gives Deker the sword Uramasa, and Deker gives her the Harmonium. Later, Dalia awakes and finds their home burning. Dalia pulls Deker out but is too late to save him. Dalia calls out for help. A Nighlok appears and makes her a deal. He saves Deker’s life, but Deker is cursed to live as a half human and half Nighlok with no memory of her, and Dalia is turned into a Nighlok.

Blue and Green Rangers knock Rhinosnorus from the Dream World and destroy his Mist Blower, and all his sleeping snacks, and Dayu, wake up. Rhinosnorus escapes back to the Netherworld.

Deker approaches Jayden to finally have his Ultimate Deal.
